Hypocalcemia
is a common neonatal metabolic condition with different calcium thresholds for preterm and term neonates.
Preterm neonates

Hypocalcemia
is characterized by total serum calcium below 7 mg/dL or ionized calcium below 4 mg/dL.
Term neonates
•
Hypocalcemia
is characterized by total serum calcium below 8 mg/dL or ionized calcium below 4.8 mg/dL.
