Electrophysiology studies investigate patients with known or suspected arrhythmia.
Technique
•
Electrode catheters are placed percutaneously into the heart through the femoral and neck veins.
Uses
•
An electrophysiology study (EPS)* is most commonly performed to evaluate patients for catheter ablation and is normally done during the ablation procedure.
•
EPS is occasionally used for risk stratification in patients suspected of being at risk of ventricular arrhythmias.
