THE CONTEXT

Treatment of established thyrotoxicosis combines supportive measures with specific therapy.

Rest and sedation are nonspecific measures and should be used only alongside specific treatment in established thyrotoxicosis.

•

Specific treatments include antithyroid drugs, surgery and radioiodine.
