Immune Response
Antigenic stimuli that induce cell-mediated immunity
THE CONTEXT
The nature of the antigenic stimulus influences the induction of cell-mediated immunity (
CMI
).
Effective stimuli and adjuvant requirement
•
Cell-mediated immunity
is best developed following infection with intracellular parasites.
•
Killed vaccines and other non-living antigens do not induce cell-mediated immunity unless administered with Freund-type adjuvants.
