THE CONTEXT
Transfer factor (TF) is a small, dialysable substance with resistance to several forms of treatment.
Molecular and antigenic properties
•
TF is dialysable and has a low molecular weight of 2,000–4,000.
Resistance, storage and inactivation
•
TF resists trypsin, DNase, RNase and freeze-thawing.
•
It remains stable for several years at –20°C and in lyophilised form at 4°C.
•
Heating to 56°C for 30 minutes inactivates it.
