Study note
Microbiology
Immune Response
Simultaneous antigens and antigenic competition
THE CONTEXT
Administering two or more antigens together
can alter their individual antibody responses.
Possible responses
•
Antibodies
may develop against each antigen as though the antigens had been administered separately.
•
Alternatively, the response to one antigen may increase while the response to another decreases; this is termed antigenic competition.
